Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

What types of photography services do you offer?

I offer a wide range of photography services, ranging from graduation, prom, portrait, birthdays, event coverage, professional, and more. My goal is to capture your memories and create sessions tailored to you, so feel free to contact me so we can bring your creative vision to life!

When and how should I schedule a shoot?

Scheduling is easy: just fill out the contact form on the homepage of this website or shoot me a DM on Instagram.

Feel free to schedule your shoot as far in advance as you like! The more in advance you schedule it, the more likely it is that I'll have availability for that day. If you are scheduling an outdoor shoot (such as graduation or prom), plan to keep that evening open (around 2-3 hours before sunset).

Can we choose the location for our photo shoot? Can you suggest locations?

Absolutely! When booking your session, I'll ask you if you have location(s) in mind for your shoot. For areas I am more familiar with (USC campus, Purdue University campus, general Bay Area portraits), I can help provide suggestions of places for us to shoot at. For other places that I am not as familiar with (such as universities that are not USC or Purdue), please prepare locations for us to go to.

Here is a list of locations in the Bay Area that I really like! Feel free to suggest any more that you know of. For Bay Area locations outside of Fremont, I typically add on extra mileage costs.

How should I prepare for our shoot?

Before the shoot:

Make sure you give yourself enough time to get ready and relax before your session! Plan to arrive around 5 minutes early so that you can familiarize yourself with the location.

For poses, I recommend looking up a few on Pinterest so that you can decide what kinds of poses you feel comfortable with. I can/will provide directions and suggestions, but I want to make sure that you are happy with how the photos are turning out!

Graduation/Prom:

If you are planning on doing a champagne spray, I recommend at least 2 bottles of champagne (or apple cider).

For windy days, I recommend bringing safety pins or fashion tape to secure your stole to your outfit in case it starts blowing away.

If you'll be wearing heels, I also recommend bringing flip flops or another comfortable pair of shoes to walk in.

Bring any props that you'd like! Club/sports gear, bouquets, champagne, etc.

Other:

  • Towel/handkerchief for sweat
  • Comb/makeup touch-ups (I will most likely have a small comb, some lip gloss, and powder/blotting paper on me, but I recommend bringing your own regardless)
  • Hand mirror—I find that it works better than a phone (I usually bring one as well)
  • Water

What happens if the weather is unfavorable on the day of an outdoor shoot?

If the weather doesn't cooperate on the day of an outdoor shoot, we can discuss alternatives such as rescheduling the session or finding an indoor location. I want to ensure the best possible outcome for your photos, and I'm flexible in adapting to unforeseen circumstances.

What does the post-shoot process look like?

After the shoot, I upload all of the photos to my laptop. Due to the sheer number of photos that usually come straight out of a session, this usually takes around two hours, more or less depending on the length and type of shoot.

Next, I will comb through the photos and delete duplicates/get rid of the bad ones. This can take up to 3 hours.

Then, I edit using Adobe Lightroom. I typically like to bring out the warmth in my photos and emphasize sunlight as well as bold colors. I don't usually do a lot of retouching (e.g. teeth whitening, removing wrinkles), but I can remove blemishes and other spots if you request it. This entire process takes about 2-3 hours. Feel free to send a moodboard of any specific visions you have in terms of the editing process!

Finally, I will export all of the edited photos (1-4 hours depending on how fast my computer is) to an online photo gallery for your viewing and sharing pleasure!

Can I see the photos before they are edited?

Long story short, no.

Unedited photos are like raw ingredients—they’re not a reflection of my final product. Editing is a huge part of the creative process that brings out the lighting, color, and emotion I envisioned when shooting. Sharing unedited images would be like a painter showing a half-finished canvas.

A typical shoot can be anywhere from 400 to over a thousand photos. In addition, I shoot in RAW, a format that only certain photo editing softwares can handle and one that takes up a LOT of storage (around 8 GB per shoot, often more). Letting clients sort through hundreds of photos to pick a handful often feels stressful and time-consuming. I take that off your plate by selecting the best shots, so you don’t have to worry about blinking, duplicates, or subtle technical flaws.
